Side Rail Menu

A tiny frosted rail hiding at the edge that politely slides a compact menu over the page on hover.

In its resting state only a 12px frosted handle peeks from the left edge — discoverable but almost hidden. Hover it (or focus it with the keyboard, or tap on touch) and a compact glassmorphic menu springs in over the page with a soft, calm motion; the labels fade in a beat after the panel arrives, and a faint backdrop blurs the content beneath. Nothing is pushed — the menu overlays. Built entirely with :has(), :focus-within and transform/opacity transitions, so it stays light and 60fps, and it collapses the moment your pointer leaves. Honors prefers-reduced-motion.

Every specimen is presented like lab equipment — framed, labelled, and ready to be taken apart.
